Rich's surgery

So, here a few pictures from Rich's second hand surgery. Things went really well and he has had hardly any pain this time. That is very different from the first surgery. He came home with a giant wrapping on his hand. Look at that thing. It's huge! But he's doing great and working on bending his finger. He had his first physical therapy session on Friday. The therapist unwrapped him and created a new wrapping for his hand. The incinsions are not nearly as horrible this time. I think the grossest one is the one through his fingernail.

See the wrapping on his fingernail. Can you believe they drilled through it?! You can't really see the rest of his incisions in this picture. He has a total of 5, including his fingernail.

This is the new splint/wrapping the PT made for him. He has to do physical therapy at home every hour or so and then actually go in to see the PT twice a week for the next 8 to 10 weeks. He can't straighten out his hand or wrist or he risk tearing the new tendon.
